Trans Nzoia CEC nominee slapped with Sh3m fee in case against IEBC

A Trans Nzoia politician was slapped with a Sh3 million fee after withdrawing an election petition.

Christine Tanguli had accused IEBC of deliberately omitting her name from the ballot.

The Kitale High Court dismissed the petition and ruled that she would meet the costs of the suit.

Justice Stephen Githiki said the petitioner filed to withdraw her case and also failed to pay a Sh600,000 security fee as required.

Tanguli is a CEC nominee in Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba's cabinet.

A court has stopped the County Assembly from approving the names of CEC, saying it was not procedural.

Tanguli, a Ford Kenya candidate, for 79,110 votes while woman rep Janet Nangabo of Jubilee won with 92,427.
